What is Chlorine Dioxide(CL02)?
Chlorine Dioxide is a chemical compound made up of one part chlorine and two parts oxygen (the formula CLO2.) While chlorine dioxide does have that same “clean” or “crisp” smell that bleach and chlorine have (all are oxidants, which means that they oxidize the cell wall of a pathogen to kill it), CLO2 is far more powerful and safer for you and the environment. CLO2 is more effective against odor causing agents and, equally important, CLO2 does not produce carcinogenic by-products such as THM’s (e.g. chloroform), as chlorine and bleach do. CLO2 breaks down to salt & water, which is why, in lesser quantities, it can be safely used to purify drinking water.
What is the Cannabis Clean Shield of Protection?
Cannabis Clean’s Shield of Protection is an application process using EARTHSAFE PROTEXUS MATRIX™ to treat surfaces surrounding the plants in a grow. By treating the surfaces inside we are able to provide a preventative method to inhibit mold, mildew and other harmful bacteria before it grows.
How does shield of protection work?
Active ingredients are bound to the surface in a state of partial bioavailability, preventing any growth. When moisture is present, the film softens and increases the performance of the actives to meet the demands of ever-changing environmental conditions . The polymer heals when it dries to keep working for months to years in most situations. In order for the Shield of Protection to continue its effectiveness, normal cleaning of treated surfaces is necessary. Dirt buildup, paint, dead microbes, etc. will cover the treatment prohibiting it from killing microorganisms.
Can the shield of protection adversely affect my skin or the environment?
No. Since the antimicrobial is permanently bound to the surfaces it protects, it does not leach from the fabric to the skin or into the environment. Extensive toxicological testing shows the antimicrobial does not cross the skin barrier. It is water based
Is it harmfull if I breathe in the chlorine dioxide vapor?
Chlorine Dioxide is nothing more than an oxidizing agent that neutralizes dangerous chemical compounds and odors in the air. You should definitely leave the area and not spend time in it while the vapor is present, as with any type of air compound, but it will not harm you if you are in the area for a short period of time.
How is the shield of protection applied?
The Shield of Protection is applied using electrostatic technology to ensure full coverage on all surfaces
How long does the shield of protection last?
Since the cured antimicrobial is nonvolatile, insoluble, and non-leaching, the treatment should last for the life of the treated surface. However, the life of a treated surface depends on a number of factors, not the least of which is surface preparation. If you treat a dirty or unstable surface, when the dirt comes off or the surface is disturbed, some of the antimicrobial will be removed with it. Abrasive or caustic (pH>10.5) cleaners will also shorten effective life. We recommend a re apply every 3-6 months with regular CLO2 wipe down treatment every grow cycle while the plants are out of the room.
Are there any safety concerns after application?
This product will not give off any gases, leach onto other surfaces, or loose its strength over time. The unique properties of the Shield of Protection allows permanent bonding of the product to any surface to which it is applied. As long as this the surface is kept clean with normal cleaning procedures, the surface will continue to fight any microbial growth.
